Mö Items es una marca de bolsos étnicos hechas en Barcelona, todos elaborados a partir de tejidos de distintas procedencias y cosidos a mano. Las responsables de unos diseños tan originales y únicos son Marta Casas y Montse Morales, dos jóvenes diseñadoras que tienen un montón de ideas, mucho talento y vienen pisando fuerte.

Los bolsos dan el toque de distinción a cualquier look. Combinados con las pulseras Magnet Attraction, son  el complemento ideal para un look de primavera: coloridos, ligeros y con mucho rollo.

Mö Items is a brand of clutches and bags made in Barcelona, made of fabrics from different parts of the world and hand made. The creators of such different and original bags are Marta Casas and Montse Morales, two young designers with many ideas, strong talent and they make a splash.

SHADES AND WATCHES

Aquellos que me conocen mejor saben que soy adicta a las gafas de sol y a los relojes. Herede la pasión de mi padre por los relojes y el amor de mi madre por las gafas. Este año en Tranoï tuve un flechazo con dos marcas: FOB Paris y Dzmitry Samal. Me gustaron tanto que pensé que serían el complemento ideal para vender en mi tienda en Barcelona, y este verano podréis verlas en la tienda. Si véis algún modelo que os interesa, no dudéis en pedírmelo!

Those who know me better know that I am addicted to shades and watches. I inherited my father’s passion for watches and my mother’s love for sunglasses.  I think they are the perfect accessories for jewels. This year in Tranoï I had a crush on two brands: FOB Paris and Dzmitry Samal. I liked them so much that I though they would be the best accessory to sell on my store in Barcelona, and this summer you will see them in the store. Las joyas indias son tan variadas como lo es la India, y podríamos vestir todas las partes del cuerpo con joyería tradicional hoy en día. Hay distintos estilos en las diferentes regiones: la joyería Kundam es típica de Delhi, la filigrana de plata o Tarkashi es original de los estados de Orissa y Andhra Pradesh, la joya de estilo Meenakari procede de la época Mongola y proviene del Rajasthan, la joyería que tiene una clara inspiración en templos es típica del sur.

Indian jewelry is as varied as it is India, and there is a piece almost for each part of the body. In the different regions, there are different styles : the Kundam jewelry is typical of Dehli , silver filigree or tarkashi is originally from the states of Orissa and Andhra Pradesh, the Meenakari jewelry is inherited from the Mongolian era and comes from Rajasthan, the jewelry that has an inspiration in temples is typical of the south.

Maan Tikka. Actualmente esta pieza es muy popular y la llevan las damas de honor en las bodas o también la llevan mujeres en eventos especiales como festivales, aunque originalmente lo llevaba la novia el día de su boda. “Maang” significa la partición del cabello y “tikka” es el punto de la frente donde se aplica el tilak (la marca generalmente circular que se coloca en el centro de la frente). // Nowadays this piece is very popular and bridesmaids and women who are attending to a festival or special event wear it, but it is a traditional bridal accesory. «Maang» means hair division and «tikka» is the center of the forehead where they use to place the tilak. 

Nathni. También conocido como “nath”, “koka” o “laung”, o pin nasal es muy popular en India a partir de la invasión mongola de la India, aunque es una pieza original del Medio Oriente. // Also know as «nath», «koka» or «laung», or nasal pin, very popular in India  since it was invaded by Mongolia, though it is originally a jewel from the Middle East. 

Jhumka. o pendientes. es un complemento tan femenino como masculino. // Earrings, it is a female or male accessory. 

Haar.  gargantilla. // Chocker

Bajuband. Es un  brazalete que se coloca en el bíceps. Antiguamente se solían elaborar en metal crudo con motivos florales (enredaderas o flores) o animales (reptiles como serpientes o cocodrilos) y depende de la zona también con piedras engastadas. // It is a bracelet that is placed on the biceps . Formerly were made of raw metal with floral motifs ( vines or flowers) or animals (reptiles like snakes or crocodiles ) and depending on the area, they have also mounted stones.

Chudi. o “kangan” , son las pulseras. Es una pieza muy importante en la religión Hindú pues una mujer que lleva los brazos desnudos es considerada “desfavorable”. En India normalmente se lleva un número par y suelen ser de oro o plata o una combinación de ambas aunque las pulseras nupciales normalmente son de vidrio. Cuando el marido muere, la mujer debe romperlas en señal de luto. Cada color tiene un significado y en cada región de la India hay un  código de color asociado a sus tradiciones. Las pulseras de plata simbolizan la fuerza y las de oro significan fortuna. El rojo simboliza la energía, azul sabiduría y púrpura simboliza independencia. El verde, la suerte en el matrimonio y el amarillo la felicidad. Las pulseras blancas son un nuevo comienzo, el color naranja  éxito y las negras significan poder. //  The bracelets. It is a very important for the Hindu religion as a woman wearing bare arms is considered «unfavorable» . In India they use to wear several and always an even number, normally made of gold or silver or a combination of both but bridal bracelets are typically made of glass . When the husband dies, the wife should break them as an indication of mourning . Each color has a meaning and in every region of India there is a color code associated with their traditions. Silver bracelets symbolize strength and golden means fortune. Red symbolizes energy , blue is wisdom and purple symbolizes independence. Green means luck in marriage and yellow happiness. The white bracelets are a new beginning, the success is represented by the color orange and black means power.

Angoothi. Anillos tradicionales. // Traditional rings. 

Payal. tobillera, también conocida como “pajeb”. Son accesorios para los niños y las mujeres. Son famosas por sus hermosos trabajos de tallado. // Anklet, also known as «pajeb». They are accessories for children and women. They are famous for their beautiful carving work.

Bichiya. Anillos para los pies. Antiguamente lo utilizaban las mujeres casadas, sin embargo hoy en día lo usan las jóvenes como un accesorio de moda. La palabra Bichiya significa escorpión y viene a describir la forma abierta del anillo,  no son como los de las manos, son abiertos al final y los puedes ajustar al dedo. // Rings for the feet. Once used for married women , however today they are used by the youth as a fashion accessory . The word means scorpion, and it describes the open ring form, these rings are open at the end and can be adjusted to the finger.

Clásicas, comunes, antiguas, llaves perdidas. Llaves que sólo abren una cerradura, llaves capaces de abrirlas todas. Cada llave esconde detrás una historia, guarda un secreto. El misterio de lo que puede encerrar o liberar. Son pequeños objetos poderosos, símbolo de secreto,intimidad, propiedad y tesoro.

El secreto de cada llave, es el que dota a cada pieza de su personalidad. Ese es el origen de la colección OPEN YOUR MIND, una de mis primeras colecciones. Una llave de plata que se convierte en anillo. Cada una es diferente, con piedras preciosas o bañada en oro o rodio, cada una con su origen y cada una destinada a una persona distinta. Así, todos encontramos en una llave nuestra propia historia. Y nos permite encerrar o liberar un secreto, compartirlo con alguien, entregárselo o hacerlo propio.

Classic, common, antique or lost keys. Keys that only can open one lock, or keys that are able to open any. Each key hides a story behind, keeps a secret. The mystery of what it can lock up or free. They are tiny and powerful objects, a symbol of secret, intimacy, propriety and treasure.

The secret of each key is what awards the piece its own personality. This is the origin of the collection OPEN YOUR MIND, one of my first collections. A sterling silver key made into a ring. Each one is different, with precious stones or gold or rhodium bathed, each one with its origin and destined to belong to a different person. That way, we all find in one key ring our own story. And it allows us to keep or free a secret, to share it with some one, give it or make it your own.

Y por segunda vez volvimos a Tranoï. Esta parte de mi trabajo me encanta pero implica mucho esfuerzo previo… es como un examen para el que te preparas, das lo mejor de ti y hasta que no ha pasado, no puedes evaluar cual es el resultado. Las semanas anteriores son una mezcla de tensión y emoción, mucha adrenalina y actividad frenética con los preparativos. Al llegar a Paris, mil dudas… el agobio de sentir que tal vez no estás preparado. La ansiedad de no saber cómo será el espacio, ¿vendrá gente? ¿gustará la nueva colección? El primer día es el montaje: entrar en el Palais de la Bourse, vacío, abierto sólo para nosotros no tiene precio. Y después el show. La cosa se empieza a animar y me encanta porque me encuentro  con gran parte de mis clientes (la mayoría internacionales y algunos nacionales), con diseñadores, algunos nuevos, otros ya amigos, y siempre hay lugar para los encuentros inesperados, como este año con mi amiga Pepa… Siempre es genial encontrarte amigos en distintos lugares del mundo. La feria dura algo menos de una semana pero lo vivo tan intensamente que tengo la sensación de que se prolonga mucho más. Sólo el último día, aunque agotada, te puedes permitir el lujo de disfrutar un poco de Paris… Y los días pasan y al final haces tu evaluación. Yo me considero una afortunada y solo puedo dar gracias. Gracias a todos los clientes que repiten, gracias a los nuevos clientes por la confianza, y gracias a la gente que me rodea, la que trabaja conmigo, la que me apoya, en especial a Charlotte, Alejandra, Andrea y Sara por hacer este proyecto posible.

 And for a second time, we went back to Tranoï. I love this part of my job, although it implies a huge previous effort. It is like an exam you get ready for, you give the best of yourself and you do not know the results until it has already happened. The anxiety of not knowing how it is going to be the stand, are many people coming? is my new collection going to please? The first day we have to stage the stand: get into the empty Palais de la Bourse, opened just for us, is priceless. And then the show starts. I love it because I meet my clients (international and national), designers, some of them new, others are already friends, and there is always place for the unexpected encounters, like this year with my friend Pepa… It is always great to meet friends in different places. The show lasts less than a week, but I live it so intensely that I feel it much longer.  Just the last day, despite the tiredness, you can enjoy a bit of Paris. And the days pass by and you do your evaluation. I consider myself a lucky person and I can only be grateful: Thanks to all the clients that repeat, thanks to all the new clients for their trust, to the people who are close to me, to these who work with me and support me, in special to Charlotte, Alejandra, Andrea and Sara for making this project possible.

En realidad me cuesta mucho definir el proceso creativo de una colección porque todo nace en el momento en el que me imagino una pieza o se me ocurre alguna idea. Entonces siempre me lo apunto en mis notas del iPhone para volver a recordarlo… (algo que hace todavía más terrible la pérdida del móvil). Así que en realidad cuando estoy presentando una colección, ya estoy visualizando la siguiente. Acabamos de volver de París de presentar la colección en Tranoï y quería compartirla con vosotros. Es una colección bastante amplia, así que solo he hecho una pequeña selección para anticipaos lo que estará en tiendas en la siguiente temporada 🙂

It is very hard for me to define the creativity process because everything starts in the moment when I imagine a piece or I have a good idea. Then I write it down un my iPhone notes to remember it later… (something that makes even more dramatic the moment when you mobile breaks or gets lost). When I present a collection, I am already visualizing a new collection. We have just arrived from Paris where we have been presenting our last collection and I wanted to share it with you. It is a wide collection so I made a small selection to share for a preview of next season’s collection.

Creo que la mayoría de las mujeres tenemos en común esa adicción por las buenas compras. No hay nada que nos guste más que encontrar algo a buen precio, encontrar el perfecto accesorio de tendencia o el look que logra distinguirte del resto. Ultimamente, necesito outfits muy cómodos porque paso muchas de pie, pero también tienen que ser adecuados para poder asistir a reuniones o tratar con clientes. Aquí está mi última selección de prendas de nueva temporada combinadas con chollazos de últimas rebajas y con mis joyas y accesorios para conseguir el look perfecto… Espero que os gusten!

I think most of women have in common this addiction to good purchases. There is nothing that we like more than finding something at good price, finding the perfect on-trend accessory or this outfit that makes you different from the rest. Lately, I need very comfortable outfits because I spend many hours standing, but it also needs to be nice to go to meetings or to deal with my clients. Here it is my last selection of garments from this season combined with bargains of last sales and with my jewels and accessories to get a perfect outfit… hope you will like them!!

IN RED LAND…

Dicen que la inspiración te viene trabajando, en mi caso, viajando… Vivo para viajar, para inspirarme en lo que me rodea, conocer otras culturas, aprender y traducir esos inputs a través de mis creaciones.

Había estado anteriormente dos veces en Marruecos, pero esta vez ha sido como un lugar nuevo, desconocido y con una magia peculiar…. Quizás al cuarto día de vacaciones mi cerebro decidió desconectar y respirar la brisa de Essaouira, disfrutar el silencio de Marzouga y apreciar el arte entre todo el bullicio de la plaza de FNA.

It is said that inspiration usually comes while you are working, in my case, it comes when I am traveling… I live to travel, to get inspired by what surrounds me, to know other cultures, to learn and translate those inputs through my creations. 

I had been twice in Morocco before, but this time it has been like a new place, unknown and with a special magic… Maybe because my brain the fourth day decided to disconnect and breath Essaouira’s breeze, to enjoy of Marzouga’s silence and appreciate the racket of FNA square. 

Buenas noches Marrakech… Y buenos días con un espectacular desayuno que nos servían en el Riad de mi buena amiga Lola, a la que estoy enormemente agradecida por habernos acogido y tratado como en casa. Shukran!!!!!

Tras una puerta, escondido en pleno corazón de Marrakech se encuentra este acogedor Riad, decorado con un gusto exquisito, con tan solo 5 habitaciones y una terraza soleada donde cada mueble, cada tronco, cada fosil era una nueva inspiración… Alguna que otra joya se me escapó….

Good night Marrakech… And good morning with a spectacular breakfast that we had in my good friend Lola’s Riad, to whom I am very thankful for welcoming us so warmly and make us feel at home. Shukran!! 

Behind a door hidden in the heart of Marrakech there is this cozy Riad, exquisitely decorated, with just 5 rooms and a sunny terrace, where each furniture, trunk and fossil became a piece of inspiration. Some of my new pieces belong to this place…

Tras dos días de zoco, de shawarmas, y de infinidad de té, nos dirigimos a Essaouira, a 2 horas de Marrakech, un pueblito pesquero con unas playas infinitas.

After  two days of «zoco», shawarmas, and endless tea, we went to Essaouira, 2 hours of distance from Marrakech, a small fishing village with endless beaches.Detrás de unas murallas, se escondían unas calles estrechas, repletas de artesanía marroquí, puertas antiguas, mercados de especies y un aurea más relajada que la del zoco… Gente encantadora.

Behind the walls, there were hidden narrow streets, full of Moroccan handicrafts, antique doors, markets of spices and a more relaxed energy than in the Zoco… wonderful people.  

Me reencontré con mi profesor de Kitesurf de hace dos años de Tarifa, Majid, gran persona… y tras un poco de deporte de riesgo y pescado fresco que te hacían al momento en el mismo puerto, en Esaouira también anochece temprano…

I met my Kitesurf teacher from Tarifa, Majid, great man… and after a little bit of risky sport and fresh fish that they cooked in front of you, in Essaouira it also gets dark pretty soon…

Buenas noches Essaouira…. Y tras 11 horas de viaje, encontrándome con mercadillos ambulantes, espectaculares piedras, fósiles de todo tipo… Tras muuuuuucho negociar, comprar y diseñar…. Me quedé sin palabras.

Good night Essaouira… And after 11 hours travel, finding street trade, marvelous stones, many fossils… after haggling a lot, buying more and designing… I was stunned.

Estas eran las vistas desde el Riad en medio del desierto de Merzouga…. Arena, silencio, dunas infinitas y una brisa ardiente que por la noche se convertía en aire frío.. que apaciguábamos junto al fuego de la hoguera.

These were the views from our Riad in the middle of Merzouga dessert… Sand, silence, endless dunes and a burning breeze that at night became cold wind; we fought against it with the campfire.

En el desierto se para el tiempo, desaparecen los horizontes y solo está el ahora y los 360 grados de arena que te envuelven….. Eso SÍ es desconectar.

In the dessert the time freezes, there are no horizons and there is only the present and the 360 grades of sand that surround you… this is a real disconnection. 

Desde pequeños nos enseñan a leer de la A a la Z pero solo con los viajes y la experiencia aprendemos a leer entre líneas.

Since we are children, we are taught to read from A to Z but only with these trips  and the experience we learn how to read between the lines.

Italia, amore mio

Cómo minimo dos veces al año tengo que ir a Italia, y aunque son jornadas muy intensas y no tengo mucho tiempo de ver la luz del día porque paso el 90% del tiempo encerrada en talleres, no dejan de ser para mi un placer estas escapadas. Tengo la gran suerte de trabajar con los mejores, de disfrutar haciendo lo que hago, la suerte de seguir aprendiendo y de conocer a gente nueva y nuevos talleres (¡esta vez han sido piedras!). Estuvimos la mayor parte del tiempo en la Toscana, aunque pasamos la última noche en Roma. Nos quedamos en un maravilloso hotel boutique, Hotel Villa Laetitia, una antigua villa de 1911 que pertenece a la familia Fendi y que además cuenta con un restaurante con una estrella Michelin. Una auténtica delicia. Por favor, no dejéis de visitarlo, ¡es como para quedarse a vivir allí!  

At least twice a year I need to go to Italy, although normally days are very intensive and I don’t have time to even see the day light because I am the 90% of time in studios,  it is always a pleasure for me to go. I am so lucky to work with the best, to enjoy doing my job, so lucky to keep on learning and meeting people and new studios (this time it has been a stone studio!)

We were most of the time in «la Toscana» but we spent the last night in Rome. We stayed in Hotel Villa Laetitia, an antique villa from 1911 that belongs to Fendi family, and which has a Michelin star restaurant inside. Delightful. Please, don’t miss it!
